On 31st July 1970 the centuries old tradition of daily rum rations in the Navy came to an end. This day became known as Black Tot Day. Our story started over 11 years ago when a parcel of flagons containing Traditional Navy rum, from Jamaica, Guyana and Barbados was discovered in naval yards in the United Kingdom. For over forty years, this rum which for so long had fortified the spirits of the navy was barely touched. We bottled and released this historic rum in 2011 as a tribute to this era. We called it Black Tot the Last Consignment. Our new rum, named simply Black Tot, is a nod to that moment that change. However, this rum is a creation for today. We have taken the traditional Caribbean style rum and created a recipe that reveals more of the natural fruit flavours of Barbados, delivers more depth from the full-bodied style of Guyana, and is interlaced with Jamaican rum for vibrancy.
